Membership

Who are we?  

Croyde Surf Lifesaving Club is a well-established and growing club. We now have approximately 55 seniors, 20 juniors, 80 nippers and 30 social members. We are still seeking more active members, in all age groups. We train children and adults in sea safety and lifesaving skills and provide a friendly, supportive atmosphere to help people of all ages gain confidence and fitness in the beach environment.

Membership age groups

Nippers 6 - 13 years                Juniors 13 - 15 years           Seniors 16 - 29 years Masters (categories) 30-34, 35-30, 40-44, 45-49 years, and 50+

Social members - adults from 18 years upwards.

What is the criteria?

To join you need to be reasonably fit and, at 6 - 7 years old , be able to perform a recognised stroke and complete 1 length of ilfracombe swimming pool. From 7 years old upwards you will need to swim 2 lengths of the same pool with confidence.   So, even if you are 12, 13 and upwards, through to young, or even older, adult the basic criteria is achievable.  We can help you get stronger and fitter and ensure you have some fun along the way.

Our other provisos are that you attend club sessions regularly to keep up your fitness levels so that you are safe in the sea environment (this means attending the pool and beach sessions); and that you will be expected to compete in at least two of the surf lifesaving contests held each year. (there are 2 stillwater (pool) competitions and 2 beach competitions per year - county and national- with more possible events during the nipper/junior age group of 13 years old.)

For the very young members of 6-7 years we need to be sure they are kept safe by insisting that a parent also joins as an active senior member. This ensures that the child is looked after by that adult during all sessions and they take responsibility under their own member’s insurance.

How much does it cost to become a member?

Nippers £20 per year     Juniors £23       Seniors £25     Social £12

All members from 7 upwards have insurance cover to use club equipment during sessions, and your club card entitles you to discojnts at most of the local sports and surf shops.
